2003 Solara vs 2003 Accord Coupe?

I know there's similar topic down there but I want to get this straight.
I've been in love with Solara for about 6 month or so and i'm getting my car pretty soon.
Yes I was going to buy Solara until i saw the 2003 Accord Coupe.
At the same price, (about the same price of $25000) the 2003 Accord Coupe offers 260hp engine and plus navigation system with nice lcd screen.
Now, Solara only left its elegant style and the JBL speakers (I love JBL speakers!) and that's about it.
I know Solara V6 engine's 200hp is not bad at all but you get 60 more ponies at the same price. Accelation is kinda my concern but I also want luxurious-look at the same time.
Any suggestions?

ps. how come Solara V6 ones don't have VVT-i? I know 4 cylinder ones do have VVT-i

first of all i dont know where you read 260 (from a naturally aspirated 3.0, not likely)
it makes 240, and bout 211 lbs of torque (or somewhere around there)
in my opinion the solara looks way better than the new accords! hondas ruinin all their cars...
or, you could always wait for the '04 solara...might be worth it

On edmunds.com, the Accord shows a 240hp and the Solara shows about a 10% lower price tag. For that 10 percent, you can buy your navigation system and then some. The Solara is slightly roomier, more leg and head room.

Go to edmunds.com and look up the Honda or the Solara and then hit "Competing Vechicles".

It's a tough call, most of the people here think you can't go wrong with either. Toyota has a slightly better drivetrain warranty (3 more years and 24k more miles). The Solara is rarer and every other person drives the Accord. How much is that extra HP worth to you? If you care about the HP, there are cars like the Mustang that you should look at. For about the same price, you get 305Hp.

So what's more important to you. You mentioned you thought the Solara was pretty, but you didn't say the same about the Accord.

solara vs accord

Postby atlantasolara » Fri Sep 27, 2002 10:30 am

having a solara, it's hard not to like its serene ride and its relative exclusivity. however in addition to what's already been mentioned, the '03 accord has 1) the 5-speed auto tranny (if it's not the stick you're getting), 2) the double-wishbone front suspension (solara's got the more common, less expensive struts) which helps handling a lot, 3) a more high-tech instrument panel and dashboard design, and 4) an expected better resale value based on historical data.

also, with the factory suspension left alone, the accord has a more solid feel (test-drove an 03 accord recently) versus the solara, which chatters somewhat over a rough surface.

if you absolutely need to buy that new car this year and don't mind seeing a clone every now and then, the accord appears to be the better value even with its higher purchase price (get the price down by buying on the night of the last day of the month).

or wait it out for one year to see how the 04 solara compares.

Wait until 2004.
Brand new Solara is coming out. It's suppose to have vvti engine in it..
And lots of goodies!! I am sure the new Solara will kick silly lookin' new Accord.

Only thing I admire is the new Honda engine in Accord.. That's it for me.. I don't really dig the design..
