hmmm... I thought that they never made one but it seems that there are a few people running around with the one made for the pre 97+ 1MZ motor.

This guy has one and he says that he bought it from overbooststore.com

this site:

would it work on a newer 1MZ motor? im thinking of getting one if they would.

The pictures look just like our engine bay.. even the intake looks like Danny's extension.

If you notice, there is some type of airflow sensor that has to be attached inline between the pipe from the manifold and the pipe to the filter. We just have that little square thing that we bolt into the pipe. I think that's why it wont work on ours.

i remember reaing somewhere that people sometimes did a DIY intake with normal piping, couplers and clamps. They said that a MAF adapter like that black thing can be ordered but I dont know where to get it. Any one know? Im wanting this thing so bad.

It must if it says 96 - 02. But thats like 5 generations!

There has to be something wrong cause there is no way it you can have the exact same CAI to work from 96 - 02.

We will see when it get released more detail.

the guy is running around with one for the 3mz-fe they made it for the 92-94 camry's. you can get an extension for an eclipse and it should work.

EDIT: re-read the post. it looks like the regular intake (non cai) with an eclipse extension.

I think we talked about this before and someone called AEM and they said that it's not coming out due to lack of interest or something

Yeah, that was me. I kept in touch with AEM for about a year. At first they said that it was delayed. Then it became apparent that they would cancel the project due to a lack of interest. They're looking to sell in large volumes, not just do special projects for a few people in a couple forums. So basically the guy told me that they would work on more important stuff first(more demand) and then get to the CAI for gen 4's or cancel the project completely. My guess is the latter. Just buy Danny's kit. I bought the whole Injen+CAI intake and it was worth the money. Noticeable difference for sure.

Danny's kit won't work with the i4 (2AZ-FE) will it?

I was calling AEM also. They have had the application listed for at least 1.5 years and I have been calling them about it for that long. Everytime I would call, they would tell me it will be a few more months. I'd call back and hear the same story, in a few MORE months. They didn't tell me they weren't going to make it due to lack of interest, they told me there were higher priority projects...

It may just be, because there really isn't enough room to do a real good CAI with plenty of room to spare, they don't want to get into it. The cold air extension that Danny had faricated from UPFD fits a little tight but is great workmanship and works great. I don't think you'll ever find a better one. The limitations aren't in the product, its in how much room we have to work with. -JoeB
