How do I disable my DRL's?

Postby krook » Tue Jan 20, 2004 12:20 pm

j0hn19 wrote:thats the only EASY way to disable the DRL AND Twilight sensor is to keep your e-brake up one notch.. Its not going to hurt your parking brake system because its only one notch up... all tha last notch is for is to trip the sensor turning on your headlights outside of your control.........

john, no offense man. but this is ghetto. from the g to tha tizzo, okay?
no one should have to do that.

i disabled it properly the first time by simply unpluging that gray connector in the engine bay, but for some odd reason it just started working again.

j0hn19 wrote:Also, theres a thread where you can go inside and actually disconnect the twilight/DRL system all together.... It was a Toyota service bulletin for people entering/exiting a military installation or just plain didnt like the DRL function

there you go, that's the one i'm talkin' about. where is that post??? something about you can unplug the relay system for the DRL's. i LOOOVE the twilight sensor turning on my lights, but i hate the DRL's...

UPDATE:

well, i figured it out since i'm the only one having this problem it seems. i simply plugged the gray connector in the engine bay, then i unplugged it. simple as that. now it's back to normal: no DRL's, twilight sensor still kickin' on my HID's at night!

yay for DIY...Image

When I pull my e-brake up, my DRLs do not go off. Where is the wire for the e-brake tripping mechanism for the DRLs and could this have come unplugged? Or would that disable the DRLs? I know my S-10 DRLs were disabled with the parking brake and I wondered why the Solara (at least mine) did not.

I've got the grey connector unhooked for the day time and I've tried the little black thing on the inside of the window but I just can't seem to get it undone. I've seen how you press those two little side thingys but I can't get them at the same time. It's too cramped for me to do anything barely. Would it be alright if I just snipped the wires? If not can you all tell me another way I could get it unhooked besides going into the dash and tearing it all apart. Thanks

Nevermind on telling another way if anyone even reads this. I fought with it enough that I finally got it disconnected.
