Tokicos spinning, can't tighten top nut

Postby pythonjosh » Sun May 23, 2004 1:58 pm

My tokicos are hella rattling and when I was installing the top rod just kept on spinning on all 4 so the top nut couldn't be tightened. My friends (Honda ppl) said their tokicos have a hex key for the shaft so it doesn't spin. Not true for my car. How did you guys tighten your tokicos? This has been annoying me and confusing me since I installed them. Thanks,
Josh

some have the hex at the top, and others have a cut through the shaft, near where the nut tighten downs on.

you can use an open end wrench to secure the strut rod, then tighten the nut.

How else did you loosen the nuts on the old strut?

With a rachet. And I don't see how an impact wrench would stop the shocks from spinning around. Today I jacked up the front and put some gloves on and grabbed the shock to hold it still. Worked for the front too. Will try to tackle the rear shocks tomorrow. Think I'll need 2 people. Later,
