2007 LED Taillight Conversion

What you need-

2007 Taillights (OF COURSE)-

Electrical Tape, Wire cutters, and all your crimpers with all that good stuff-

2x Load Resistors OR 1 LED Flasher Relay
Link http://superbrightleds.com/tail-brake-turn.html
Load Resistors Kits of 6 OHMS 50 Watts (one for each light)-

1 OR 2 Light Converters (Depending on how hard you wanna work with the wires, I used 2, one for each light) which will be...
The Hopkins Towing Solutions Basic 4 Wire Harness
Part Number 48915..... These are like 15 bucks each... Walmart, Online or any Store that sells Auto Accesories.
Image-

Also there are adapters that they sell that will go into the open end, make sure you buy the one that fits in with 3 male and 1 female end on one side and it comes with 4 wires at the other....................
PART No 48205

The relay or resistors are to avoid the fast blinker effect**

The converter is what is going to make the lights be 3 functions... brake/ parking light/ signal**

Okay there are wires you are going to cut and reconnect (I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU MESS YOUR CAR UP!!)

Brake Light Wire (Cut)-
Ground which is White (Do not cut)-
Parking Light Wire (cut)-
Reverse Light (Will not be cut. Just Pull the PIN out of the Connector and switch it around with the Signal)-
Signal Light (Which is now unuseable will be cut)
**(Remember to leave enough wire to connect together)

UNfortunately I dont remember what color the wires are, so grab an electrical tester to find out, and write it down on a paper so you won't forget.

Now that the wires are cut, Grab your Converter attached to the Adapter and connect the wires together from the car to the converter...

Signal Right is Green on the Converter
Brake is RED
Left is YELLOW
Parking Light is Brown

Now from the Converter to your Light

Yellow is Left Signal
Brown is Parking Light
Green is Right Signal

***Note.. You will not use the Ground coming from the converter(s) so leave it untouched. Also if you end up using 2 converters, on the right side you will Not use the Yellow wire and on the Left you will not use the Green***

Last but not least the Resistors come with splice taps, you will connect it to the Ground wire from the lights and the other end to the Signal Wire before the Converter. (If you connect it after the converter you will get a fast blinker when you brake.) Also now is the time to doubleside sticky the Resistor on the inside of the car, make sure it doesnt touch the carpet from where you mount it.....

If you buy the Relay just Switch it out with the stock one and avoid the the resistors.

Finished Result...

Enjoy your Lights..... :drinking: :drinking: :drinking:

Here's my little contribution... hope it shows up okay...
CAR HARNESS---------------------------CONVERTER--------------LIGHT

Ground WHITE/BLACK-----------------WHITE----------------WHITE/BLACK (X2)

Brake Light GREEN/WHITE---------------- RED

Tail Light GREEN------------------------BROWN---------------------GREEN

Reverse Light BLACK/RED-------------------------------------------------GREEN/YELLOW

Signal LIght GREEN/BLACK (L)---------GREEN OR YELLOW-----GREEN/WHITE
GREEN/YELLOW (R)

As I said before... my wiring is a bit different... I chose not to use the stock harness at all and bypassed all wires...

If you use two converters... you'll have an extra wire on each one... (an extra "right" wire on the left side, and vice versa)... you can use this extra wire to connect the reverse lights... (that's not shown on my "diagram")

tip: use code tag to force courier font so the spacing won't get mucked up.

Code: Select all
                 CAR HARNESS---------------CONVERTER---------LIGHT
Ground           WHITE/BLACK---------------WHITE-------------WHITE/BLACK (X2)
Brake Light      GREEN/WHITE-------------- RED
Tail Light       GREEN---------------------BROWN-------------GREEN
Reverse Light    BLACK/RED-----------------------------------GREEN/YELLOW
Signal LIght     GREEN/BLACK (L)-----------GREEN OR YELLOW---GREEN/WHITE

It'll still looked goofed in the edit window so edit elsewhere in courier, then paste it into your post.

Where besides online can you find the load resistors. I've tried Kragen, Autozone, PepBoys, Radioshack, and even Home Depot. They all look at me like I'm nuts...

It's such a specialty item that I think you're best off just getting it online...
