New tires - Goodyear Assurance Tripletread?

New tires - Goodyear Assurance Tripletread?

Hey, My Solara's due for some new tires, (bordering on overdue). I'm still running the OE Michelin MXV4 (or whatever they are) and based on how bald they are, they're okay in the dry, not so hot in the rain. I previously had Falken Ziex Z512's which were decent, but not spectacular.

I'm looking at a few things, keep in mind I'm keeping the factory size on factory wheels (16") so a 205/60R16. I also live in rainy Vancouver BC.

After some looking at a lot of reviews asside from a few complaints about lower treadlife than advertised, the Goodyear Assurance TripleTread seems to be looking pretty attractive.

Price on these is relatively high, but if all the reviews are accurate, I'm willing to pay up.

Anyone on here have any experience with these? (On a Solara or even another car). Is there another long-wearing all-season tire in OE fitment that I should take a serious look at for similar or less money?

I have Goodyear assurance (the three in one tire) on my gen1. I got it cus once i lost control of my gen1 when it was raining very badly (i hydroplaned).
I don't know how to rate tires..so i'll try my best.

Pros:
Smoothness: they are good when new, lately i think they have some more road noise. As they have agned, i think i hear the roads more.

Reliability: (readlife) Thus far I have added close to 15K miles and they seem to holding up very well. I'm dropped on trd's, so depending on your suspension...your treadlife may differ. To me 15K has come and gone easily! No prob's what so ever. I easily foresee me making 10K more miles on them (discount tire thinks i have 10K+ left on the tires still..if not more, i guess time will tell).

Cons:
Radial pull. My alignment check out, my tires are causing me to have a slight pull to the right (was left, but we switched tires)..But then again, radial pull is not caused by bad tires - its caused by who the tires get worn...

Overall, i've happy!

Thank's Jai_Jai! Great first hand input!

I remember my directional Ziex pulling a little as well, that's something I can probably get used to without too much trouble. Much like you, I had a mishap in my previous car in the rain, so I value wet traction.

These are supposed to be good in the snow as well, but chances are we'll only have snow for a few days of the year.

Interesting to hear you're not going to see their quoted 80,000miles of treadlife. I'm not expecting 80,000miles either... but half of quoted would be nice.

badjura - Thank's for the heads up! I had no idea they were on special to boot!
