Alarm Bypass
I have an 02 SE, which I don't believe has a transponder in the key. I'm getting my alarm installed and the guy doing it is trying to tell me I need a bypass for the ignition. I made a plain copy of my key and it starts the car fine, so that means I don't have the transponder in the key, as far as I know. I called back and told the installer that and he tried to tell me that it might work without the bypass, but down the road it might somehow "lock up" and have to be towed to a dealer to have it "unlocked?" Sounds like bs to me, especially since I don't see what an aftermarket alarm could cause that a dealer would have to fix?
He said he'd install it without the bypass if it works but I'd have to live with the consequences if there are any... Anyone know if this guy is full of it?
