check the FAW and Stickies forum. there is a thread that shows all of the exhausts made for the gen 1 solara. I just bought an APEXi... but it sounds like you'd like the Greddy more.

GReddy is fine, nothing major... the midpipe hangs pretty low and they all have a tendency to blow the gasket between the Cat and the piping...

if you want a more european sound, then Apexi seems to be better... but it's quiet and doesn't see as much of a power increase as the greddy.

if you want more of an evo sound... get the greddy. or make a custom setup with a magnaflow or borla muffler. Borla mufflers have a nice deep tone.

from what it sounds like you want... you'd be best off with the greddy.

I agree. The muffler and tip is big but it fits well, except the low hanging mid-pipe. When my gasket between the resonator section and muffler section blew, I had a local shop cut that flange out and weld a small piece in there. I know, pretty ghetto, but it stopped the noisy leak and it shortened the length enough so it didn't hand low anymore and it only cost $20 cash.

Don't expect a "seat of your pants" power increase with a cat-back alone. The cat-back compliments the S/C okay, but the real power gains are made by the y-pipe section in the mid to high RPM range.

All i did was take the bolts out, and slid the gaskets in and tightened it back up as much as i can.
I don't think there is a leak.....

You should be fine for a while... worst case scenario you need to throw in another $10 gasket...

It just strikes me as odd how many GReddy's blow them. I know of at least 2 solara's, a Z, and a handful of Hondas who have all had that problem with various GReddy exhausts. Granted it's more of a nuisance then a major issue, but I'm curious as to why it happens.

This is part of the reason I'm a big fan of custom piping. You can usually get it done cheaper, you can pick whatever canister you want giving you more style/tone control, and a reputable shop will stand by their product if you start to blow gaskets.

I find that chambered, rather than glass pack mufflers provide the greatest power increase. Of course the increase by exhaust alone will not be great, a chambered exhaust does not cause the loss of gas velocity as much as a glass or steel wool pack does. You might want to check out Borla. Borla exhausts are all stainless and chambered. Also availible as a universal fit is Flowmaster. While not stainless, they are thick walled and have one of the best chamber setups around. Check out the "Flowmaster Delta Flow Series Mufflers" http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/s ... &langId=-1

Hope this helps,
David
