basically thats what your looking for to bring your power wire into the car safe. Keep in mind I have an 02 and yours might be different, After removing the groumet, you might have to enlarge the hole, but make sure you use a wire groumet, this is one that snaps into the size hole you made and has a opening for the wire to pass through.
As far as your cap goes, the CORRECT way to to slowly charge it. Just about all of them come with some form of resistor to slow down the charge, some even come with terminals with leds that let you know when it is full. Tapping it before hand just gets you a big spark, and if your gonna do that then just do in the car its the same difference. Also when you connect your ring terminals, it looks like you have the crimpless terminals, if done properly, it will never come lose, and over a power transfer that long the last thing you want to introduce is a lead resistor. Follow everything else and you should be fine.

When i bought my caps i charged them with a small glass lightbulb. It came with the packaging, and it worked great. Just goto radioshack and pick one up, make sure it can handle 12v though

You might not even need to drill through the firewall. I was able to bring it through with some wire allready going through. Check my sounddomain site for a pic of the install

pop the rubber rivot out and cut out the center of the rubber out enough to let the 0 wire to get through. (that is if you have a rubber gromlet) make sure that that wire isnt touching bare metal it will cut the wire and blow a fuse or worse.

try to find find some one who sells car carpet, if you cant find any one around there ask a local stereo shop where they buys theirs, its usually cheaper. To answer your ? I always called it trunk carpet it the thinnest and easiest to work with. And as for the adhesive you cant go wrong with any 3M product home depot should carry a carpet adhesive. GOOD LUCK on carpeting your box, I hate doing that sh_t. I usually just pay someone.
