I would say keep it as long as you can to save your $$$...![]()
However, If your in the market for a new battery, just like cam2Xrunner says, the Stinger SP1000 or Odyssey PCJ1200MJT would be the ticket.
The only two down sides to the Optima's is the battery terminal's being located in the middle of the battery verse the stock terminals loacted by the corners. Second would be the height of the Optima. The Optima's sit to low in the battery tray to even benefit the factory battery brace to properly seat the battery (tie down to keep the BAT from siding/bouncing back and forth).![]()

So in order to have a sound install for the Optima the unit requires a .5" spacer (seated in the BAT tray)... Where as the the Stinger SP1000 or Odyssey PCJ1200MJT are a perfect fit.![]()

I bought the same battery. Like sto, until about a week ago, I was on the original battery from the new purchase in 2/99. Then after not ever having any trouble with it, 1 morning I went out and it was dead and wouldn't even take a charge. What did you do to hold down the Optima Red top? I went to stick it in the stock battery holder and the top hold-down bar wouldn't go down low enough to hold the battery. Fortunately, I bought this nice shiny billet battery hold down box that I used insted.-JoeB
