Insurance would total it.

You've got some serious drive train damage to boot - who knows what else under there.

i highly doubt it... they only total it if the cost of the damage is more than 2 thirds the value of the car... and the Kelly Blue Book value of the car is ~17 grand ... theres no way thers 10 grand of damage there lol

Yeah, I don't think they would have totaled it, but it will be expensive to repair.

Theres a chance that car can be totaled. damage is closeand similar to mine. but i had more body damage. my cars value for repair was well over 12grand. and im glad insurance totaled because like PXL stated there so much you dont see or know untill you fix the car but the problem is another part or gets worse. its a 50/50shot on the repair personaly id get it totaled. just my .02 ive been through this same type of thing

I agree. Not much may LOOK damaged, but what IS damaged isn't going to be cheap.

Now, insurance companies have negotiated rates, so they might get it done cheaper, but if you were to just take that to a shop and have them fix it yourself, I think you'd be surprised by how much it will cost.

Sounds like that's what you are going to do, se report back with the total estimate.

If it's going to cost more than 50% of the value of the car to repair, I'd take it in for an insurance estimate...I'd rather have a car totaled that pay that much to fix it. Like a few have said, when there is too much damage, your car is never the same.

With that damage you have, I'll be you NEVER get the same ride out of it again.

Well i cant exactly just go to insurance now. I allredy thought of it.... theres no accident report or anything so... because i already thought of telling them that mom was driving because shes on the same policy and she wouldn't have as much of an insurance spike, but theres no accident report now so i really cant do that... and if i were to try then they are just gonna be like wtf why didn't u get a report or anything

Also, its not that i am taking it to some random body shop ... its going to friends of the family who have fixed similar damages to my brother and dads cars so for one we know they do good work and two we know they don't screw you on prices.

I had no accident report for my case , you call the comp tell them i lost control of my car and thats it . No questions asked. i did this so i am aware of what im talking about. ANd once agian it can be a family shop or a Bently shop your car will never drive or feel the same ever agian. THis is why we pay insurance. good Luck

I'd worry about differential damage mostly, and then second, frame damage...after that, everything else can be fixed without longer term problems

lol i think u got it reversed.... i woudl worry about frame damage first... and then differential.... at least in the differential you can replace parts... with the frame its just like... need to be fixed. But the other thing is i wasn't going very fast so if there is frame damage its probably minimal

I'm guessing 5k+ on that damage... 3-4k if you have a REALLY CHEAP (not necessarily "great" or even "good") shop to do the work, but there appears to be closer to 7k and up of damage from a "high-quality" shop if done through insurance.

Best of luck to you... sorry to year about the incident. Good no one injured, anyway.

Hope your mechanic is an expert in frame damage as well as general mechanical / cosmetic damage. Those are usually the things that come back to bite you in the end.

BUT... on the positive side, at least there won't be a collision repair on your CarFax report!
(which is why I don't trust those entirely either!)
