Hayne's Manual?

Hayne's Manual?

Postby tnakam1 » Wed Jul 14, 2004 6:19 am

I was trying to look for 2003 Solara Hayne's manual, but it seems like the most recent year for Camry is 2001. Is 2001 the same as 2003? Is Camry manual same as Solara's?

Help this newbie out....Thanks!

97-2001 Camry = Gen4/4.5 Camry
1999-2003 Solara = Gen1/1.5 Solara, which is based off the Gen4 Camry

Your 03 is a Gen 1.5, which is based off the Gen 4.5 Camry, which is 00-01

Most of the parts of the Solara are identical to the Camry its based off of. Body styling is one of the only differences. But engine, drivetrain, eletrical, and just about anything else Hayne's manuals are needed for are identical.

If you actually got a Haynes manual for an 02-present Camry, it would probably be much different from what you have now. The 04 Solara is based off that Camry.

is there anything specific you are trying to look for?

engine/chasis/electronics should be relatively the same, except a few differences here and there.

Ahhhh. I see. I will go pickup 01 Camry Hayne's manual today.

I wanted to see the manuals with some diagrams. I have been feeling more jitters when I press on brakes recently, so I wanted to know how to check them. (and how hard it would be to correct anything to fix it). Maybe it's time to change the brake pads because my Solara has 40k miles...?

Thanks for the info!

Wow you made it to 40K on stock pads?
Id say its pads, almost definitly. Mine died around 30K. And when I say died, I mean my brakes were scraping even when I wasnt braking.

Whatever you do, don't get cheap brake pads! At minimum, buy the OEMs.

Yep. I have 40k, and it's still working fine without any squeaking. I want to give a shot at changing breakpads and tweak rotors myself, but what would you suggest? Being new to doing this, should I go to professional service techs?
