Variable Valve Timing?

Variable Valve Timing?

Postby 99V6solaraSE » Mon Jul 19, 2004 8:44 am

I know ive read it in sum posts earlier... but i didnt really see any clear definitive ideas and thoughts. In your opinion, who do u think has the bess Valve Timing Technology out there?

And is there any way to possibly get VVTL-i into Solaras that dont have it? i.e. Gen 1 solara

I really don't know much about the VVT-i. My wife has a 2000 Lexus RX300 with a 1MZ-FE w/VVT-i. I'm sure much of how they perform is controlled by the ECU. I would never run my wife's RX300 against anything else. My understanding is the VVT-i is better unless you plan to do a lot of mods including head work. Then it becomes a hinderance some how. I think to put those heads on your car you would need the ECU as well, just a guess. -JoeB

lol what the hell do I know? well no one else was replying so whatever. If you think a little computer chip is going to make ur car faster than what it really is then you are not fully realizing what is possible and what isnt. CAI, catback exhaust, s/c, and high boost pulley will increase performance. Not just an ECU upgrade on a stock engine.

you know VVT stands for variable valve timing and is not a trademark of toyota right? and VTEC is a variable valve timing system. So by you trying to make him look stupid, you in turn made yourself look even dumber.

wut da hek? i meant no hostilities by my statement.
But yes i see the error of my mistake however it wuz due to my assumtion that he was referring to VVT-i and simply forgot to put the "i". However knowing that he meant VVT as in Variable Valve Timing, my statement still stands.
Why would i get a Honda juss to get its VTEC. and i have never associated VVT as a trademark of Toyota. It juss so happens to be that i am tawkin about toyotas.
My intentions were to simply find out if it were possible to put VVT-i in da 1st gen solara and not lookin to make ppol look dumb.
Thanks for the thread hsakuragi

to get vvti in your gen 1.. you will need a motor swap to the new 2.4 2az engine.. our platform has vvt-i...

for the v6 with vvti you will need the 3mz engine from the 04 camry....

but thats not cost effective...
