When do you need to upgrade the wiring harness? Will you need to with PIAA, Phillips, or Sylvannia bulbs or just HID?

Anyone know how to get those sockets as displayed on
http://suvlights.tripod.com/suvlightsco ... arness.htm

Any sites with wiring diagrams? Seems pretty straight forward but I'd like to know of what experiences people have?

I'd hate to spend $40 on what I can do myself for $15-20.

What's the trick? On the connector or on the wiring upgrade? My worry is that the light show will be my wiring burning up. Which I doubt, but just wanted to make sure.

on the TeamSC3 site it says to upgrade the wiring harness and you'll get more light even with your OEM bulbs.

But I guess I'll just pop the bulbs in. I'd still like to know where to get those sockets though. Anyone in Dallas area know where a junkyard is?

i don't see how upgrading your wiring harness would make your bulbs brighter unless they are not getting the full 55w that the oem bulbs are trying to pull. if upgrading allows the full 55w to get to the bulbs, then maybe you'll get more light. i don't see this being a drastic change but then again, i can't speak from experience.

i don't see it being worth the money to upgrade your wiring harness with your oem bulbs. in the end, installing real HIDs will be the best option if you want the whiter bright look.

yeah, I didn't think so anyway. If the wires were insufficient they either have high resistance or they'll burn up.

But either way, it doesn't hurt to have better wiring. I do want to upgrade my lights to a higher wattage bulbs like those offered by PIAA when I have a steady source of income.

My sister just told me she'll support me while I'm out of work. Bless her heart. I told her no of course. I hate that. People take advantage of her because of her caring nature. :(

yeah, but my older bro takes advantage of her. My big sis pays a lot of his bills while he racks up a gambling debt and has to sell his house.

grrr! That's what makes me mad about it. I wish she wouldn't do that otherwise he'll never learn and she's going to get in trouble with her own finances.

That picture only shows the wiring method for single filament bulbs, unlike the 9003/H4 platform. I've managed to make my own upgrade, and you will need 3 relays minimally. Unless you can get the matching headlight harnesses, it will be better just spending $40 to get it. Those terminals on the H4 bulbs do not accept regular connectors.

Whats the 3rd relay for? Even the $40 ones only come with two.

I use 2 SPST relays (30, 85, 86, 87, 87a) and 1 SPDT (30, 85, 86 and 2 87's) to make it work. This quote is taken from the website: "The Heavy Duty models are 14 gauge while the H4 Super Heavy Duty model is 12 gauge (again this model is available only for H4) and uses 4 relays." I've mapped out the H4 switching system, and I couldn't get away with just using 2 relays.
