Hello. I just wanted to say hey to every one. I currently do not own a Solara, but my family has two so far. I am 15 and will posibly inherit my mom's car soon. My grandpa also has a Solara and plans on getting a second gen solara soon. Currently we have a 99 Red 1st gen, nothing upgraded (Until I get my little hands on her) and a (I think 01 or 02) 1.5 gen black convertable solara. Once again no upgrades to the black one. The only thing that is upgraded is the gold plated Toyota logo accents that are on the cars. If I am able to buy my mom's solara (which I want to) I will be adding a nice sub and most likely a Cold Air intake. Neons will come after I get the sound and the engine done. What color of neon do you guys think would look good for the red 99 modle? I was thinking a blue, or even maybe a green. This would be for interior and exterior. Also, where is a place where I could get a super charger or a turbo kit for a 99 modle? I will also want to take this car out to the strip every other weekend and don't want to have to walk away in shame with my tail between my legs.

then i wouldn't get the neons...

you're better off with a supercharger from TRD, a 1mz turbo while possible is incredibly expensive and probably not practical for what you want.

Even stock that would be a great first car! Beats the 1976 Chevy Monza I started with - although it did have a nice V8

Good luck with the ride.

Thanks a lot for the advice. I will look into that soon. I do think that completely inpractical would be nice, but like you said it is expensive. I will try to get some pictures today. However the only pictures that I can get at the current time will have to be crap ones from a camera phone because the good camera is lost. :x I was also thinking that I would try and set up the neons so that they would be easly detached and attached for when I wanted them on. Of corse on the strip they would not be on. But, tail gating parties for football games and get-togethers I would have to add them. Also, I would never put those things on for winter. You don't want to thrown snow up into those things. That would be a real pain to clean. And I like to have a little fun in the snow sometimes. I got to where I could toss that car around like a rally driver in 6-8" of snow. A solara will actually handle very well in that kind of stuff. And that snow that I was in was fresh and not touched yet, but did have about a day and a half to set up and harden.

The red one is an auto, isn't that the 4 speed? I do not know much about these cars. Yet, that is. I will probably end up buying them later on in my life, that is if I can find some that are avaliable. I am having a problem with the whole picture thing right now because of a lost camera and the camera on the phone will not upload to the internet because of a late bill problem. So, once that gets fixed I can get some pictures up. Untill then, the pictures will just have to wait. I also have the upgraded pioneer system in the car waiting for installment. This really sux with the pictures. I got a couple of cool shots where the sun was relfecting right off of the back of the car making a bright glow just above the Solara logo. I also got a nice one where the sky that was filled nice fluffy white clouds was reflecting off of the hood. But, oh well. When I can get them up I will post them in here.
