If you're asking, change it. Well worth it, esp. the way it is all corroded.

Get it completely flushed out if you haven't done it already. From what you're describing, the coolant has been in there for a while.

i've just done mine, it was easy but time consuming if you want to do a good job or take it to the shop if you don't have time and space to do it, but shops normally rush it through, and might still leave a little old coolant in.

Definately time to change. If you can't tell what the original color of the coolant was, it's well overdue.

not sure how much you can save on non-toyota coolant
but if you go to a toyota dealer, give them your model, engine and year, they will tell you wut kinda you need, mine cost me $15.
i've seem some pink or red one at kmart for $10.

The chunks are just from dried up coolant. I have found that the lid on the coolant tank does not hold well and sometimes extra coolant will escape and dry up.
