Its illegal in all 50 states.

Only red and amber are legal turn signals when viewed from the back. The only white you see should see legally from the rear are reverse lights.

I hear thier not big on fixit tickets around north jersey.

You just get fined every time they catch you.

I got a friend who was basically making monthly payments on limo tint, and just got rid of it on the front windows once inspection hit.

Front signals are a little weirder for legality.

Legally, Front signals must be white or amber as viewed from the front of the car. But you gotta have some amber showing to the sides. Basically, that means your front facing signals can be white if you have fender blinkers/side markers as well. I think thats offical wording, havent looked it up for a while

But legally, you also need that orange reflector.

Will cops notice or care? Its your call if you wanna try your luck.

But white rear blinkers are definitly not legal in all of the US and can be a magnet for a bored cop.

It's not legal at all in NY. I was talking to a police officer that I'm good friends with a while back about what color lights were legal to display on your vehicle and he told me that it was illegal to have white in the rear. As for the front, it can be amber or white, as long as like Jon11582 said, there is amber showing to the sides.

What Jon said is true, as Hawaii is the ONLY state of 50 that has RECON. I'll bet that most of you don't even know what that is either :o . Anyways, if you want it to be LEGAL, then yea you will always need that orange reflector in the corner lamps. Even on the parking lights (for other cars). The bulb itself can emit a white light, but that since that orange reflector is there it will look orange/amber. If you have clear corners, then it'll be white. The bulbs themselves ARE NOT supposed to be blue or any shade there of, even if they emit a white/amber/whatever light. Now for the rear signal bulbs, there ARE NOT supposed to be any other color than amber. I got the whole run down on other stuff it ya need any more info/help guys. Shootz den.

Correction. Red is also legal in the back. Also, ive gotten conflicting stories on the actual bulb themselves. If blue coated bulbs arent legal, then Sylvania should be in big trouble with thier silverstar line of bulbs, which are all blue coated and claimed to be 100% legal. I did get some flak from when I went to inspection with Silverstar corners in, but he did pass me, but made a comment saying he didnt want me to have to come back. What I think is that he couldnt find a failing code for it but just thought it was illegal.
