Just in case anyone is reading this is wondering what's the difference, you'll typically see 2 types of oil caps.

1 is a twist on, it usually has 2 tabs and a spring where it goes in. You push it in then twist about 1/2 turn to lock.

The other type just screws in. It has normal screw threads.

I know my V6 has the twist on type, I think the 4cyl has the screw threads. Maybe someone can verify that? If you have a V6, be very careful when ordering a TRD oil cap, especially from eBay. Take your oil cap off and verify if it is the twist or screw type. You'll see the screw types for around $8 all day long. You won't find the twist on types that cheap. -JoeB

Darn.. I just encountered the same problem.... I purchased mine from ebay too so i think most of the ones on ebay are the twist on types..

If anyone wants another one, i have the one thats similar to the ones on ebay but mine is entirely anodized red...

sorry i know its not the for sale sec.. but its a related topic...

Do you actually think that you got a REAL TRD oil cap for $8.00?
I got mine for $40.00 and I felt lucky.
What you got was a cheap copy.
The real TRD cap retails for $60.00 USD.
And yes, for the V6, it is the twist on type, for the 4 cyln, screw on.
I did pick up the nice TRD polished billet alum. screw on type for the bosses RAV4L 2004 2.4L.
Nice and polished for $50.00 USD and I painted the recessed TRD logo black to match her ride.
Unfortunately, you can not get the polished billet alum. one in the twist on version.
