Muffler upgrade do anything?

I wanna make my 99 v6 sound throatier so I thought the best way to do that on a budget would be a CAI and a muffler. I know if I really want her to yell I should put a catbac in but I'm a balla on a budget. I was wondering if anyone has had any luck making a v6 have a low hum with just a muffler? I want to stay as far away from that high pitch wail coming from all the civics.

Custom catback 2.5" pipes and sport muffler and tip will cost you alittle over half of the EVOII price.
