Throttle body spacer, anyone interrested ?

Throttle body spacer, anyone interrested ?

Postby mox » Sat Aug 07, 2004 12:59 am

Hello everyone.

I know some people who uses "throttle body spacers" to add torque to their cars and it works well.

I was looking on the internet for one for my Solara and I found nothing

I am planning building a prototype soon. Next week I will reinstall AutoCAD on my computer and get the measurement tools out of the closet.

If everything works well, I'm planing to do a 'big' production of the throttle body spacer.

They normally sells for around 100$US each and this is the kind of price I'm planning to be able to sell them.

Let me know what you guys think and if you are interrested.

The first prototype will fit the 1st gen Solara V6 (1mzfe) and many others like the 4th gen camry.

yeah, i was looking online, and it seems like there are only spacers for the bigger toyota trucks and suvs.

They've dynoed some huge gains in these things though, i dont care how innacurate dynos are, 16 ft/lbs of tq on a PT Cruiser is impressive

A throttle body spacer is between the throttle body and the intake..

For all the cold air intakes/ hot air intakes i don't think it will be a problem

For the supercharger, I'm not sure but I have a good feeling since the throttle body is attaching to the S/C the same way it's attached to the intake

Here is what it looks like:
http://www.rocky-road.com/jeeppoweraid.html

The way it works, is that it creates a bigger air reserve behind the throttle body and that gives torque
(The air twisting/acceleration thins is not working for real on the example I show)

There is an other way to achieve the same result, it's to do modifications to your intake.. you know, there is an air reserve on your intake.. you just have to cut it and enlarge it.. ($$ + damaged intake)

in all honesty the spacer looks like it does nothing to help the car what so ever if you really want you can put the tornado in there

a spacer is point less

I feel sorry for that PT peak TQ is only at 3.8 rpm thats WEAK

You may not believe that.

The thing is that I went into some cars that had those and i saw a difference

Anyway, for sure, before selling this product, I'll get a before/after dyno because I don't want to sell sh*t

For what I saw, it's a good product. Now I have to find if I can do as good as what I saw in friends cars.

16ft-lb of torque eh? Sounds like they ran dyno on different gears.

I'm not telling you that this 16lbft is true.

I don't know exactly how much it gives and if the design I will do will give anything.

But for sure, before selling something, I'll test it and show you the results
