Do SE's even exist?

Do SE's even exist?

I can't seem to find an SE Convertible anywhere, be it V6 or 4-cylinder. The prices being quoted to me as I email dealers are on fully loaded SLEs and they are 500-1000 below MSRP which I assume puts the car in the 29 - 30K range (before tax!).

Can you get dealers to bid on your business for a car they have to have specially ordered/built for you? Is it at all possible to get a new Solara convertible in the mid-20s at all?

Trying to find a new rag top that isn't fully loaded is near impossible.
I think your better off getting a fully decked out SLE.

It's possible if you find the right dealership to sell it at that price. The Solara convertibles are a slouch in sales so i'm sure they would be willing to negotiate.

Low Sales???

Postby ragtopper » Sun Nov 03, 2002 1:00 am

Flipside, I know that sales figures differ in different regions of the country, but here in the mid-atlantic area the droptops are usually a car that has to be ordered and waited on. I had to wait 1 1/2 months on mine a year ago. And I'm finally starting to see about 35% convertibles to 65% hardtops on the road now. I wish the car had been designed as a ragtop, but that doesn't seem to stop the buyers here. Especially since the car is a great platform for a midsized, aka. middle aged, drop top. Maybe they should send Cali's excess stock to the east coast where they will sell fast.

that's true...of all the car dealers i went to (even the toyota dealers) none of them had ANY convertibles. i keep getting emails from the dealer i bought. apparently they only get like 5 in every year. i wouldn't be surprised, you don't see any for sale here. and for sale USED, forget-about-it!

yah, there was one put on sale down here but it was gone before I even made it to the dealer a day later. :(

Oh well, I love my car anyway. I think it might be more popular in california because you have better weather year round.

i only like convertibles in late fall/early winter or late winter/early spring when it's cool. Don't like it in winter or summer.
