Import Performance Parts 1MZ-FE engine build-up . . .

Postby TRD_solaRa » Mon Aug 30, 2004 5:58 pm

I came across this website that lists some internal engine modifications . . .
Complete Gasket Set
Performance Copper Head Gasket
ROSS Forged Pistons
(87.5, 88mm) and
(7.8-1, 8-1, 8.5-1, 9.1-1 comp ratio)
Performance Rings
Performance Wrist Pins
TOGA HP Main Bearings
TOGA HP Rod Bearings
Thrust Washers
Timing Belt
Expansion Plugs
=$1569.00

what do you guys think . . . the ratio specs they list would mean that you'd have to bore out quite of bit of the engine. any input is g. peace guys & gals.

the forged components would allow the engine to handle more boost.. like handle 10psi no problem.. it would beef the internals of the engine up quite a bit

i figured itd do somthing like that. LoL ... what exactly would it take to install all that stuff? i wouldnt have to modify anything would i?
hey btw i plan on attemting to do a manual tranny swap in the future..
was that difficult to do? and if my memory serves me right, you did it yourself? about how much did the parts cost and what kind of parts did you have to buy? have you faced any problems with it? does it feel like any other car that is stick? about how much do u think labor would cost if i got someone else to do it for me since i cant do it myself..?

I got all the parts that I needed for 1000.... but then i upgraded... it wasn't that bad, the only thing that really caused a problem was the install on the LSD.... which wasn't that bad... if u took it to a shop it would cost at least a grand... I did do it myself... it takes dedication... I wouldn't recommend it unless u love working on cars, and have lots of tools...

as far as install on this kit, it would have to have the short block dropped.. and I think it has to be bored out... as well as the rings gapped...

yes it is like any other stick... except its better.. I still have my automatic start... I have a bigger break booster that came w\ the autos... I still have cruise control...

This was taking from ToyotaNation by Image
The TT kit will work on any 1mz engine (including VVT-i).

It's going to be decently expensive. But trust me, it is worth the money.

1MZ (Compatable VVt-i engines)
Stage 1
50% gain @ 5psi
Comes with all the plumbing and a tunable black box

Stage 2
125% @ 10psi (Unofficial Results)
Same as Stage 1 plus intercooler

Stage 3
no data, will be running at 15psi
same as Stage 2, plus forged interenals, O2 sensors, plus more

3.3L (Compatable with VVT-i Engines)
Stage 1
25% gain @ 5psi (Unofficial Results)

October is the date being shot for, however nothing is final. The Head Mechanic at SC also works on a Pro NASCAR team. So time varies.

But the kit is still on track. So keep saving your pennies

I dunno why they would do one for the VVT-i.. the exhaust and intake overlap too much w\ the cams... basically the boost runs out the exhaust... they why u can't really boost a Vtec engine

actual time working??? I got anxious and started before I had all my parts... so i had the auto out of the car and the H-frame and all that dropped in about 8 hours or actual work... then I had to wait for LSD parts, and the sensors that you need to get from Toyota, those were on back order, and it took a week to get those. If you were just to put a manual up, and forget about putting in a LSD and things.. it wouldn't be that long at all... I would say, w\ all the parts there when u started.. and some experience w\ all the tools, it would take at least 3 full days of work.. but then u could always run into problems...
