upgrade to supra injectors

upgrade to supra injectors

Postby grnsolara » Wed Aug 11, 2004 1:55 pm

I was thinking about purchasing Jim's fuel upgrade package, I have a Walbro fuel pump (190 lph), and now I was thinking about upgrading the injectors to supra injectors on my 1mzfe 3.0L solara.

I know I'm supposed to be searching for 3.0L non-turbo injectors, but can anyone tell me what color the tops of the injectors are? I read in past posts that the 2jz are the ones to shoot for, but will the 7mge 3.0L non-turbo injectors work or not? A part # and/or color would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Reply to my own question for future reference

Just to help people out...I'm kinda going to answer my own question.

I called a Toyota dealership and got the part # for the supra injector upgrade for the 1mz-fe, and I just remember the last 5 digits are 46031 in case anybody is looking for these particular injectors. They're between like 305 and 310cc's and they have a kinda dark brick colored top. I found some on Ebay...some guy has a buy it now for like $329, then some shipping, and he seems to have a few sets if anyone is looking. Just thought I'd share...sorry to repost to my own topic.

Okay...I'm stupid again. the actual part # we are looking for is from a 96 non-turbo supra. Part# is 23209-46050. I definitely confused the Toyota dealership b/c the cushion for the o-rings will NOT fit directly. I guess Toyota made 2 different sets of injectors for the same 2jz-ge engine. I just didn't want anyone to mess up b/c of me. Sorry again.

I think that there is one injector for CA emmission cars and one for all others. I ran into the same problem.

Dang...that definitely makes sense. Does anyone know the difference though? Can I remedy what I'm doin' or do I just need to go w/ the non-CA injectors?

In about a week (after I get the parts re-ordered and make sure everything goes smoothly) I will repost and tell how everything goes. I talked w/ Jim at Foreign Affairs and he said the '96 supra injectors (the ones I'm ordering now) are direct plug and play along w/ a FTC like Split Second. All of this has definitely been posted before...I'm just trying to get colors and everything in case anyone does the same setup. I'll provide more info in a week or so.

Sorry...little longer than a week. Well...they are direct plug and play...it's the later model supra injectors which are part #23209-46050 and they are kind of a green-blue color.

Then, as has been posted before, I went with a fuel management system. I chose Split Second. I got a Toyota dealership to do the work for me (which kicks ass b/c they know the engine VERY well). I had the car for about 5 days and there was a vast improvement. However...it had to go back. They told me it was due to the computer trying to compensate for the added fuel by leaning out the air/fuel ratio. I also had them put in a supergrip 6 psi pulley while I was at it. Now they are recalibrating the fuel and timing again, and we'll keep trying until it sticks in the ECU. I'll tell everyone how it goes. If anyone needs any info I'm sure the dealership will help me provide as much as possible to the forum. Thanks everyone and talk to you later.
