I've found a 2001 Solara Convertible SLE loaded of course, with only 4,600 miles on it! They are offerring it for 26,999 (I'm not sure I can afford the extra dollar!) I'm hoping to be able to get it for 25,5 or 26. Anyone with any thoughts? It's gold...I've read where people have had a problem with the stereo in 2001s. Are these just anomolies?

It's usually a small problem. If it's still under factory warranty (3yrs/36k miles), which it still is, you shouldn't have to worry about the problem.

stereo probs ..yes

Postby shank » Sun Nov 03, 2002 4:46 am

I gifted myself a 2002 solara this april.....and I have had stereo problems..
Actually i checked out that the convertibles seem to have these problems, infact the 2001's are more prone to this..infact they have a solution to this problem and I believe u might wanna check on that before u buy it.
The solution is not expensive thou, but since its covered under the warranty i guess u shudnt be having a problem. The actual problem is I guess from the rear, infact the subwoofer, the padding below is not enuf to keep the vibrations damped..and u get a rattling noise or an extra vibrating effect...its more prominent at lower volume levels...
Also I guess my woofer has blown out within 3 months...May be I have just worned it out..but I guess JBL's r meant for bass lovers and u gotta blow them when u drive ur topless :). I am getting a new sub which is covered under the warranty, so I guess i am not concerned abt it right now..
