New Wheels

Well, I finally did it. After all that agonizing and calling around and staying up late looking at wheels online. My wife was thinking about committing me.

I got 5Zigen RX-6, 18 x 7.5s in Hyper Silver. with Nitto 555 Extreme 225/45-18 tires.

I ordered them from Discount Tire Direct. First I configured what I wanted on line then called them to seal the deal. I recommend that, because the guy was super helpful and knowledgable, AND gave me a few bucks off the internet price.

What do ya think? I've heard 5Zigen are good wheels, and I didn't want to spend the money for forged. I'm just hoping that they are tough enough to take it if I accidentally hit a pot hole.

Coo. 5Zigen is a great brand. My friend has an extra set (2 rims) of these for his drift tires . . . sweet buy. Lataz.

I'm just a tiny bit concerned about rubbing after I get the Tein & Tokico suspension in. I've read everything there is on here about it, but there doesn't seem to be a solid consensus. Nobody seems to have the 45 series tire. I'm guessing that it'll rub once in while over bumps with peeps in the car but not badly. I may have the guy work the rear wheel well a little when I have the suspension installed. In any case, it'll be fun finding out!

oh man, i didnt see that. your speedo will be off by a little bit.

i dont know anyone who is rolling on 45 series tires with 18's.

you might run into more than rubbing.

Yeah, I checked it in depth before buying, but I'm still a bit nervous about it rubbing. My stock setup is 25.69" overall diameter, and the 45 series will be .28" taller. The 40 series is .60" shorter. So, actually, the speedo will be more accurate with the 45 series. That is, if the Discount Tire database is right about all this. I double checked the stock diameter at TireRack.com, and they list it the same way.

Since the Tein springs will lower it 1.4" in the back and 1.7" in the front, and the stock height (to the edge of the wheel well trim) is 2.75" in the front, 1.875" in the back, so it's gonna be close. The offset is 43 on the wheels, so that will set them in enough hopefully.

The guy at Discount Tire guaranteed me that they would fix me up if there's any problems, so I've got nothing to lose except time, I guess.
