Parking brake light after turning

Parking brake light after turning

Postby MalBandito99 » Thu Sep 09, 2004 12:44 pm

Ive been getting this problem for a few weeks now, and Im concerned now since my CEL came on recently, and I reset it. Hasnt come back, but Ive been watching the car very carefully and observing if anything feels wrong. Nothing feels wrong, but the red dashboard BRAKE light comes on when I pull an averagely hard turn, not insane burnout turn or anything, just a turn to merge into traffic from a sideroad, or accelerating thru a left turn light.

Whats goin on here? My brake handle is down, obviously, and I feel no real deceleration or braking going on when the light comes up. Oh yeah, and it goes away after about 8-15 seconds after going straight. Help?

It means you're getting low on brake fluid. Check it out. As far as the CEL, I dunno. They shouldn't be related.

I've been getting this same problem too lately. For me it happens mostly in the morning when I do allot of turning too onto the highway. My brake fluid is still high. Could it mean a faulty circut?

i had the same problem... it means you are low on brake fluid... if your brake pads are low the car consumes more brake fluid... you might want to check out your brakes if you haven't done so already... got my brake service and nothing wrong now... good luck...

Oh my goodness..i just got to the brakes today and it wasnt run down at all..it still had over 70 brakeing pad left..and when i checked the fluid it was in kinda the right place...so does that mean i have a fautly brake line? and when i brake it squeaks now..liek bad. i use to brake allot after racing so is that why?

How do your rotors look? (all 4 of them). If it's not the pads, then it's the rotors, or both. The only thing that would indicate a faulty brake line would be leaking brake fluid. So your master cylinder would be empty, which would turn on your e-brake light when you turn. Make sure there's nothing stuck in your pads and they are aligned right. Aren't brake inspections like really cheap?

The rotors are fine and smooth like new. the pads are perfect.. no leaks what so ever and the fluid is still high...the light comes on usually in the morning mostly..and lately here in the morning its cold so could that be it? other then that everything is perfect order other then the light coming on and the brakes continuously squeking when i brake...makes my car annoying on it. or could it be just that the pads are bad?

Well, if everything looks perfect, I'd get a different brand of pads. When it comes time for me change my pads (pretty soon) I'm gonna get slotted rotors, stainless steel brake lines, and new pads (don't know what brand yet).

Yes I checked the front and back pads. Oh well I just got some new pads. brought me some carbon matalic pads. They claim to give great stopping power at high speeds. paid almost 95 bucks for all four rotors. Lets see if it works and the brake light stays off.

Let us know when you get them on. There are crappy brands of pads.
