factory 16" tires

can anyone recommend tires for my 16" factory wheels. i would go to 18's but i don't have the money at the moment to buy rims and tires. plus i would like to lower the car once i put the 18's on, so i definitely don't the budget.

the michelin tires that the '01 sev6 came with wear out pretty quickly so i'm looking at HP tires that do 50k. what do you all think?

i was told 215/55/16's will fit on my rims... shouldn't have any problems with those should i?

Yes it will fit with no problems. I would suggest Michelins or Yokohamas.

I'm a big pirelli fan, especially the p-zero. However, I think the P7 is the best you're gonna do, so a friend recommended the Bridgestone RE730 v.2's or Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's. Both are pretty cheap ($80 ea. for the Kuhmo's and $110 ea. for the Bridgestones).

where can i find how wide the tires can be on the 16" rims? the guy at ntb said he saw 215, but i want to put as wide of a tire on it that i can

Well Tirerack.com has recommended rim widths under each tire's specs. The Kuhmo's I was talking about earlier would be a bit of a problem (they're recommended for 7" wheels, whereas stock wheels are 6").

I have used 225/55/16 before and after 1.6" drop w/ no problem at all.

225/55/16 are almost exactly the same diameter as the stock tire. If you're putting them on the stock rims, you'll be OK, although they'd be better on a 7" rim. I've seen them on the stock rims, and they look a little pinched; the tire bulges out slightly more than it should. Also, no problem on a lowered car.

i got some michelin mx4 (something like that) for the two back tires. (i have the 16' OEM alloys).

it was a little over $350 for the two tires and the installation. lil expensive..but soooo much better.

no more spinning taking left hand turns in the rain!
