Air condition CAI?

Air condition CAI?

Other than the work, tell me if there are any flaws with my idea. Instead buying a short ram and gettting the CAI extension is it possible to pop out a hole in the firewall and run some 2" flexible yet stiff (like between the air filter box and the intake manifold) rubber hoseing from the passenger floor air vent to the intake manifold? That way if it's 80*F out you can run your engine with 65*F air. The only concern I have though of is condensation and of course running your AC while racing.

Having the AC on will already rob you of lots of power so i don't see how this would help at all.

Dont you think that the power lost by running the AC will be replaced by having the CAI?

i believe you lose around 10 hp from turning on your a/c. i remember hearing it or reading it somewhere.

I understand that Ford was contemplating the idea with their new Lightning...that should tell you not to do it (although I thought about it too...)

haha yea i thought about it, but then agian if u have the ac on and u rev the v6 hard and stuff, ur gonna prolly over heat, alota stress on ur engine too...=\ so it seems logical to do it but its not.

A good idea to me with this idea is have intake rooted into your car. and have your windows up with AC blasting. when your about to race turn off the A/C and bam your intake gonna take air from inside the car at what ever degree you left it at. works. TRIED THIS to the maxima of mine haha. but had to stop becuase my maxima is mess up haha. smoke.

Ford Lightning actually does use a system like this, but the line to the intake comes directly from the a/c compressor. it is only a temporary power surg, about 30second long, and good for +30hp at the wheels
