Lil off topic but since were on the topic of oil i didn't want to creat a new thread.

I know this had been discussed before but i couldn't find the original thread.

Im currently at 51,XXX miles. My next oil change is due at 52,900.
Im still using what longo Toyota's standard oil change, which is 10w-30 dyno oil.

If i was to switch mobil1 full syn oil with the same weight will i foresee any problems, say oil leaks and such since i've been using the regular dyno oil. Should i do a engine flush before switching. I should have switched earlier but the regular oil was doing fine for me and still have not had any problems. But Syn oil just seems to lub the engine better.

My driving habits are not bad. I dont drive the car everyday. I use the maybe one or 2 times a week with normal driving. I do push the car once in a while but not to the limits of the car.

You comments are greatly appreciated...

Kenny

I'm running Mobil 1 Synthetic 10W-30. It's like 22 bux at CostCo for 6 quarts. Pretty good deal if you ask me.

I was going to start using 15W-50 too, but I researched it and even called up Mobil 1.

It is not a good idea to use it because it will just make your engine work harder and wear it down quicker because the oil has a higher viscosity than the 10W-30.

Probably good to use this oil in turbo charged or super charged cars where the engine is built for it.

I still use 5W30 Mobil 1 at 63K, and I see no ill effects...been using it for 20K and never regretted it. Always a little fuzzy on the choice of filter though, but I usually go with a Fram w/ teflon additive...
