My driver's side fell off! We should all find a salvaged Solara and part them out.

Wow! I thought maybe it was just me! Mine fell off in rush hour traffic the other day with the sun in my eyes...I was so disappointed. I have yet to fix it. My mom complained with the same problem in her 98 Camry. Happened to her 5 times already, and I thought she was just being rough, but now I know better. I will talk to my dealer friend and see if I can get a free one (for nuthin' even).

my drivers side is starting to come off and the light doesn't work. Passenger side is fine. I'll probably never use the mirror or the light, but it's the principle, dammit!

I guess I am the only one here who has been lucky enough to not have that problem. But of corse after reading this thread and knowing that my car has around 117,000 miles on it and is a 99 I bet it will happen to me soon. Why did I log in today to read this?

OH man such a simple fix.

I took some Gorilla Glue Image
and put a dab about the size of a q-tip head in each of the mount screw holes. Then I placed the screws in and tried to get even just one thread to catch. Then I took a clamp and held the mirror tight to the visor for about 24hrs. Works fine now!! The Gorilla Glues foams up and becomes a similar material to the foam inside the visor.

Why do you guys think the light in the drivers side quit? What kinda bulb is that? And has anyone else had this problem?

The bulb quit because the mirror assembly is loose. The two brass contacts aren't touching because the screws are broken (or about to break). The light was the first thing I noticed, then the whole thing fell in my lap...Glue the assembly back together at the screw bases and the light should come back on.

I have one question to ask...do you guys leave it parked outside or garaged?

The only reason why I'm asking is perhaps the heat and cold may be the cause of this, but I do agree with you guys that it should be more reliable.
