Going Dual

Going Dual

Postby Duffman » Mon Sep 20, 2004 11:40 am

I've got the chance to go dual exhaust on my 02 V6 Solara, a co-worker of mine has a friend who owns a shop. I've seen the work he's had done on his; my friend knows his car stuff (has a Dodge Stealth Twin Turbo) and he seems trusting of his friend's handiwork.

He says he can get the dual exhaust, cat-back, for $300. Is this fair? A ripoff? Is there anything I should look for or ask about (other than Mandrel bends, which I will look into)?

Thanks in advance :)

You should ask what kind of exhaust for that price. Keep in mind that a Greddy, Apexi WS, and TRD Muffler are all about that much or more just for one exhaust.

This is nowhere near his "normal" prices, I'm getting the "friend of a homie" discount. There's a selection of different mufflers to go with, mostly name brand, and it will be a y-pipe cat-back setup, not "true" dual. Is there any huge difference?

the picture on the left explains it all, i had my dual muffler or fake dual for $250 at a shop in west covina, they did a clean job and the mufflers are brand name, but it was free labor coz my friend got his full lind exhaust there, so i would say ur price is pretty good if mufflers are BN!

sum guys say it can actually have a negative effect for some reason... actually decreasing the performance of your car. eH i dunn0 if its tru. Just wunderin.
I was just wondering if having a catback with the Y pipe would do any good in increasing performance. Guess not...

They say we loose power is cause for a N/A that way too much airflow than we need so a lot more torque is going to be lost

That is a good price. I just got my duals installed for about $385. That was with Tsudo mufflers. It's LOUD. Perhaps too loud, but I love the sound. :evilbat:

actually ive noticed a difference in performance, ive heard it many times " your going to lose power" but i proved it wrong, i actaully felt the gain on the take off.

I think it is depend on the pipe diameter, or the way they bent the pipe.
