How do I know if i have the RS3200 Alarm

Postby Yanks0114 » Sat Nov 02, 2002 4:26 pm

Hey,

Just a quick question. I am almost 100% sure that i have the RS3200 alarm in my 2001 solara. We bought the car used with 7000 miles so i'm not sure what the original owners bought. I have the two button keyless entry system. Also i have the horn in my engine bay by the air intake. If my trunk or doors are opened the alarm goes off. Also it arms after 5 minutes if a door is left open. I'm assuming that i have the RS3200 alarm.

Also by the siren tones and the alarm functions it seems like one of DEI's products, who makes the RS3000/RS3200 alarm

A sure way to check if you have the RS3200 system is 1) have a seperate LED indicator light with TOYOTA printed next to it (not the Security light on the tach) 2) your keyless entry has an audible chirp (microwave sounding). Do you have a red panic button on the back of your key fob? If so, you do have the RS3200. If you have a multi-tone siren and a different sounding audible chirp, it's an aftermarket unit that was added to the factory Toyota keyless entry.

Flip,

I have the light next to the tach, and also a light right near my air went on the drivers side that has toyota printed on it. I also have the override switch on the drivers side panel right by the door. Its next to where the clutch would be. I have a panic button on the back of my Key fob also. I can take pics if that would help. I'm just curious as to whether i should upgrade my alarm or not, so i wanna make sure that i definately have the RS3200

You definitely have the RS3200 VIP if you have the Toyota LED and the valet mode switch.

which alarm is it that you have, flip..yours makes the chip noise, right?? i thought that i just had the factory one, but i do have the panic button but it doesn't make the noise..i'm not sure about the led light tho. do you mean it's a separate little blub on the dash instead of a square light that blinks? i'm confused now..i have to look when i get back in the car.

am i just confused? or the factory alarm has the panic button too, right? that's gotta be it. ok..i think i just figured it out myself, but i still have to see about the light on the dash.

Missy,

I have the RS3000 VIP. I don't have a seperate panic switch...but in order to enable my panic feature, I have to hold down and depress the top button for 3-4 seconds and it will alert. Yeah mine has a seperate blinking RED LED light which is located at the console next to the auxiliary DC outlet. All of the factory keyless entry systems have the panic switch on the back. There are several configurations to the keyless entry and RS VIP systems.

They either go:

Factory Keyless Entry
Factory Keyless Entry w/RS3000/3200 VIP plus (only available to models with factory keyless entry)
Toyota RS3000 (pre 00) or RS3200 (2000 and up) VIP
