Independent fog lights LED

Postby SleeperSolara » Fri Sep 24, 2004 6:19 am

Ok i just wired my fog lights independently a few weeks ago.
Since i have my music up so loud i can never hear[sometimes] the relay click even though i see the fogs turn on.
I'm so lazy to look if the fogs are on.
So now i want to wire a red LED to light up when i turn on the fog lights.
Does anybody know how to wire the LED to light up when i switch the fogs on.
I've already blown 2x15 fuses.

go to radioshack get a led, and a resistor, ask them wat resistor u need for a 12v car battery hook up, u dont need a fuse since its to ur fog lights, and then hook the led up to the fog light power....its hard to explain, simple to do

how about using a switch with a led/light inside that illuminates when your fogs are on, instead of using the button switch the kit came with?

Fog lights

Postby SleeperSolara » Fri Sep 24, 2004 4:04 pm

Well actually i was plannin' to use the stock fog lights switch.
Just want to wire up an red LED i alrady bought from RadioShack.
It has a resistor in it.
Just need to know how to wire it up to the fog lights.
I thought i would wire the LED to the constant power[ the blue wire under the column] and use the gound i did used for the fog lights; but all that did was turn on the LED full time.
All i want is for the LED to light up when i turn on the fog lights.

Ok, here's what ya gonna do. Splice the positive lead for the led to the cig lighter wire that you spliced the fogs into. And where you spliced the fog light switch to the ground, you want the other wire to the fog light switch. I will get you the colors to this wire today. This is probably the easiest way to do it because the fog light switch is a grounding switch so the led would have to share the same ground.
Where are you gonna put the led?

LED

If you look where the space between the RPM guage, and the Speedometer is the space looks like a triangle.
Or look at the little rod you push for the miles on your car, and right across in the triangluar space acroos from the little rod.
I tried that wirin' stuff and the LED stays on. Even when the fog lights are off.

Ok, I've figured it all out for ya. The red (+) wire from the led you splice into the cig lighter wire and the black (-) wire from the led you splice with the black wire from under the steering column. Let me know how it goes.
