lowered car alignment

Postby Masshole » Fri Oct 08, 2004 5:48 am

Don't flame me I searched...

I have the tokico/eibach combo suspension set up lowering my car 1.5". The car has been pulling to the left so I took it in for an alignment. I have the free lifetime alignment deal from firestone. When I took it in they told me they couldn't align it properly because it's lowered. They said they'd do their best but it feels like they didn't do jack shhh....

Are these guys just idiots and I should try somewhere else? I've lost a lot of respect for firestone's work over the years - just another example of you get what you pay for.

Any recommendations are appreciated...

Thanks,
Kevin

It can be done, my local tire shop (that's not all that impressive) and my dealership have both aligned my car, which has a lower drop than yours, and so it can be done.
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

Lowered car

Try a camber kit.
It should straighten those tires out.

what exactly is the camber kit? how much? where to get it?

I feel like a decent shop should be able to align it... I don't understand why these guys said they couldn't do it... ??

wheel pro here in my area aligned my car just fine. My car was pulling to the left and now it isn't. They should be able to do it.

firestone by my side does work on lowered cars. Maybe your problem is not alignment but its camber as others suggested. Toyota 'generally' don't need camber kits; but occationally some of us do need it.

Camber adjust the tire left and right, to have the tires hit the pavment square.
There is a camber for front and back, but that is between the top of the shock tower, and the shocks themselves.
The camber kit will look like a "U" plate, wit some bolts on it to adjust it from left and right.

They told me I needed a camber kit, but I didn't get it and my car was fine. I also have the lifetime alignment from Firestone and I think they do a good job.
