solara power...compared to other cars

Postby ChargedSolara » Wed Oct 13, 2004 12:58 am

my girlfriend has a 2002 330 ci convertible, and it definitely is a pleasure to drive, given the price tag..(50k including hard top) compare it to my solara which i bought new in 99 and i think is worth every cent(26k)..the bmw is definitely "the driving machine" but hey..my car isn't a slouch either, it can beat the 330 balls out in terms of power...but, its still a toyota vs. bmw, apples and oranges in my opinion. try comparing a lexus to the bimmer..thats closer at least in terms of luxurym

As much as I love my Solara (and I do), it's an entirely different feel than a BMW. I spent a year or so driving my dads old '98 328i (he bought a G35 coupe), and even though the beemer has less hp and torque, it just feels sportier. Its quick, it corners, the wheels hug the ground, the steering feels tight. It's just a fun car to drive; I wish I could have afforded keeping and maintaining it.
Add to that the level of fine tuning, the more advanced engineering, interior quality and materials quality, and of course the brand name and it's no wonder that they cost so much more. Like someone already said, people pay for luxury. So while we should definitely be happy with our cars, and even a little boastful, lets not go overboard here and delude ourselves.
