Michael T's Custom Lower Black Grilles - sorkang724

Postby michaels artic frost » Tue Oct 12, 2004 11:19 pm

Here is are pics of the black lower grille courtesy of sorkang724. Thanks Jackie!

Jackie purchased the lower chrome grille and painted it black. I too have sold a couple that I have painted the lower and upper grille black, but customers were not able to post pics.

I hope others that have the black lower & upper can do me a favor of postin pics when they receive the grilles.

Thanks,
-Michael 8)

P.S. Just to let you know of the process for painting the grilles black. I spray 2 layers of high temp paint, then I spray a 3rd layer with a glossy black finish. I have tested this and the black paint seems to hold very nicely. However I do recommend occassional touch ups, they are minor and very minuit. The black combo grille set looks very nice.

If anyone is interested please let me know. If you prefer to paint it yourself please let me know, so that I can give you a discount.

Also, notice that you are able to see the plastic zip ties is because Jackie used the gray ones that came with the chrome, I have since shipped him some black zip ties and they will not be noticeable at all.

Image

Jackie added his own special touch of the VVT-i emblem which looks very nice btw. I too have something in store for the combo grill set in regards to emblem on the grilles and will release soon.

So, there isn't a black grill anymore? It needs to be spray-painted?

Michael T's lower black mesh grille VERSION 2

Okay, here's the scoop, I do actually have black mesh lower grille, however it is a different mesh. If you are interested, I will make one and post pics. I actually like the black mesh and it came painted straight from the mesh grille manufacturer. So, I did not painted it. It is semi-gloss, and looks great, I will post pics sometime next week.

The only thing is with this particular black mesh is that their material is not big enough for me to make an upper grille to match the lower. But this is great for customers that only want to get the black mesh grille only.

I hope I didn't confuse anyone, if so, please ask...lol

The black grille has been out for over 2 months, is just that no one posted pics.

I will post pics of Michael T's lower black mesh grille VERSION 2 later on this week or next week.

Thanks guys,
Michael 8)

Oh, ssshhhnap!!!!!! We got a Forum police on our hands.... hahhahaha,

Back on topic, just BUY Michael's grills and paint them yourselves!!!!!!

No need to do that guys. Since having more time to R&D, I've got pictures of the Michael T's lower black mesh grille VERSION 2. This black lower grille came painted from the manufacturer. I DID NOT PAINT THIS.

Black lower grille is for SALE $75.00 with free shipping. Looks very very nice. It's too dark for me to take pictures of it on my car in the garage. So I hope these pictures will suffice.

I can ship this out ASAP for anyone who has been waiting for it. ASAP, meaning tomorrow, once paypal payment has been received of course.

my paypal account is michael40507@yahoo.com

Thanks,

I honestly like Version 2, because it's painted straight from the manufacturer. If you want a combo set, I'd say get the version 1 and paint it yourself as Milt said.

If you only plan on getting the lower black grille and not getting the upper, then I'd say get the Version 2.

I can install the black lower grille version 2 on my car and it's artic frost pearl as well, so you'll see exactly how it will look on yours.

You do understand that if you get version 2, there is not a black upper version 2 to match it right? Just making sure you understand.

I'll try to install it on my car tomorrow if the rain ever stops and maybe get some pictures of the black lower grille version 2.

Later,

If there’s not a matching upper grill for version 2, I guess I’ll have to get the version 1 combo set and spray-paint them myself.

Thanks for the pics and the diligence.
