Installing Boost and EGT gauges

Postby all_red » Wed Oct 13, 2004 3:50 pm

I want to install a boost gauge and an exhaust gas temprature gauge on a dual apillar gauge pod. The shop quoted me $150 for painting the pod and installing the gauges, is that fair?

painting the gauge? installing the boost? installing the EGT? (those are the two gauges i have setup)

you can do that yourself.

as for installation, thats EASY!

just have to have the correct tools and patience.

Don't you have to drill through the headers for the EGT gauge? and through the firewall for the wires to go through?

EGT- yes, you make a small hole through the exhaust manifold.

firewall- there may be existing ones already.

There are holes already going through the firewall, they are just filled with a rubber grommet

though i must say 150 isnt bad at all, at least up here in New England, it would cost me 20 dollars just for the paint for the match. Then the labor to run the lines, though you might get a better understanding of your car if you do it yourself. A better appreciation for it....at the least.
