My opinion would still be keeping hte 5sfe. Celica.net dudes have a TONES of people over 200K miles on their 5sfe's. Its a great engine. Not a powerful enging indeed..but a reliable one!

Yea, they know im going from an I4 to a V6.

I think theres nothing else wrong with the engine. I think there was too much antifreeze in the coolant (or wrong type), and over a few hundred miles, clogged up the water pump, pump stalled, timing belt kept going and grinded (He said it didnt snap, but it was unusable...teeth probably worn). And pump ended up blowing, spraying coolant all over, making the engine look like it was smoking and overheating when it wasnt..it was just the coolant. Also explains why my temp gauge was still in the middle when my car stalled and started smoking, and all the hoses were dry in spite of the puddle (It sprayed out of the pump in the engine block rather than dripping down from the reservior).

Makes sense to me, and looks pretty good that nothing else is wrong.

At first, Since my engine was smoking and the car just cut off, I thought my pistons siezed for whatever reason and that I'd probably have to get a new engine.

So looks like Im sticking with a 5SFE. 1MZ is also a good reliable engine theyve used for years. If it was any less reliable, I wouldnt even be considering it.

I still appreciate all the advice/info though, all good stuff. Thanks all.
