DIY strut mounts question

DIY strut mounts question

Postby camcar se » Mon Oct 04, 2004 5:10 pm

I am getting readt to replace my entire suspension setup ie(struts, springs and Mounts) Heres what I dont get, mu car is making a horrible knocking noise when I hit bumps and Im assuming this is the problem. I have a 99 solara se V6. Anyway on the toyota diagram I have Im not really sure what peices I need. There is the peice on the top of the fender that you can see when you first open the hood with the bolts on it, is that what I need, on the diagram it shows my mount as being a tiny little donut looking peice. And last I want to do the backs to but I cant find a listing for a mount back there. There is a mount plate but its on the bottom. Where is the rear mount at. Thanks I will be submitting a pic of my diagrams when I get home.

Check this out: http://www.superstreetonline.com/howto/3321/index.html
The donut is the front under the shock tower, you got to take the whole thing out.

I have changed struts and springs more times than there is solara owners on this forum. But I have never done it on a solara and our mounts are very different than most. I have no doubt that I can change them I was just curious if anyone who had already gone through this could tell me how to check them to MAKE SURE that I dont disassemle for no reason and the rear of the solara doesnt even look to have a mount just an insert.
