Condensation in fog light

Condensation in fog light

Postby Qetesh » Tue Oct 19, 2004 8:52 am

The right side fog lamp has considerable condensation in it and I was wondering if there is a way to elimate it. The lens is free of cracks and the bulb works properly. The seal looks to be in tact. Any help would be appreciated!

I'd remove the lamp (physically, not just the bulb) from the bumper, reseal it and then see if the condensation still persits. I had similar problems in my celica (especially during winter times), despite using silicone, they always condenced...i lived with it.

I took it out, blow dry it with a blowdryer and never got the problem again.

How hard is it to remove the lamp?

Remove a couple bolts for the splash guard located underneath the fog. Getting it out is pretty self explanatory, only a screw or two. Take the whole assembly out, let it dry or wipe it out with a long cotton swab. Re-seal it with silicone and of course seal any cracks you find. I had the same problem with mine. The side of the housing had a hairline crack that would let water in when it rained so I sealed it up and have had no problems since.

My driver side one was horrible after a few years. Im not even sure if it was scrubbable since it formed this ugly yellow hue over 3 years. So I bought a set on ebay. If by right side, you mean passenger side, I can help u out there since I have a spare passenger side fog lamp housing. Your only about a half hour from me so Id even put it in for u if your willin to drive up. PM me and let me know if your interested.
