CAI in rainy weather

So everyone, now that we enjoyed the nice hot summer, how do you think the CAI will hold up during rainyt season? I noticed that there was some water on my intake when I checked it the other day after I washed it. So I tapped up some large holes I saw around the intake. I am just mostly worried about too much moister being sucked in....any comments?

I don't think rain will get into our CAI's. When it was raining on Monday I drove through quite a few large puddles, and today I drove my car for about a half an hour and it doesn't seem like there was any water in my intake.

convert it back to short ram just in case. unless you have a bypass valve then its o tayyy.

I wouldnt lose sleep over it. Just avoid two foot deep puddles. The only way to hydrolock your engine is to completely submerge the filter.

Well it isnt that there was water IN my filter, it was ON it. But is that bad for the engine to get water insidde it? I know that it probably isnt alot at one time but over a period of time, wont it wear down the engine?

A little water in your engine will not harm it. It in fact will help clear some deposits from inside your engine. (FYI, this isnt license to go pouring water into your intake)

I spray water into my intake on purpose.

Hey Joe, your a different story! :evil:

I had the CAI without the fog light for quite a time during rain and the filter just got water on the lower 1/4 of it. It wasn't that much, but it was wet. So with the fog light in place, I think it will be OK!

down in so cal, i see puddles a forming!

pudles+ sequoia suv= loads of funfilled splashing!

just for precautions, i would change to short ram or stock air box.

I don't have an CAI, but i took out my snorkel of the airbox, and was forced to drive trhough water up to the doorsill or up to the fog lights. :evil:

I was mad, my splash guard broke so i had to zip-tie it, and now things are good.
Plus without snorkel it sounds like i have an CAI wit K&N filter :lol:

That's nothing, comparing to trucks and buses next to you in rain, that's what was happended yesterday. It still runs great today and in the future!!!

I have the heat shield on so I'm not sure how much it did help the avoid water getting in, i should change its name to splash shield? heh
