Car is rumbling!!!

Car is rumbling!!!

Postby importtuner2oo4 » Mon Nov 01, 2004 8:00 pm

hey guys, i searched for this already and found nothing.
I was looking for some feedback on a problem my car is giving me. I got the i4 solara and whenever i put it in gear, the car rumbles while standing still. As soon as i put it in Neutral or Park, the rumble goes away. There is no effect from this problem while im driving, just while idling and this gets annoying considering i spend a lot of time in traffic. any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Rajat

What year / mileage is your car?
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

cleaning your throttle body is suggested

also the Idle Air Control Valve (IAC) may be a problem as well

have those checked out

most likely you all are wrong (not to be mean) .... 5sfe engines arent as smooth as the V6 motors. if he is used to a V6 engine then yes he will feel more vibrations.. i drive them everyday at work from 20 on them to 200k... now if it is more than the usual vibration, i would first check your motor mounts .. specifically the rear and front ones... then i would clean your throttle body if its still there and then check your idle air control valve... :D

^^ yep to that note. I've got a 5s and a imz. the imz is a lot more smoother despite having more miles! The 5s was a great engine (don't get me wrong) but its purpose was to be economical...not smooth, throttle ready or torque as much as the imz. I'd do what he said....

thanks guys for all your feedback. I went today and dished out $300 bucks to replace the Idle Air Control Valve and so far it's going smooth. :)

thanks again,
