so i did a search but it was too vague, anyways, i just purchased an 2000 Solara SLE V6 auto with 72000 km(i'm in Canada so about 45 - 50,000 miles?) so i'm wondering, what are the common issues/problems, that everyone has encountered with their Solara's. thanks.

I can name two off the bat.

Rear cupholder seems to break very easily. (Mines beyond broke, and I heard alot of other people had problems)

Also, Ive heard the mirror in the visors fall out, but I havent had that problem myself.

Thats about all I can think of.

I agree with the other replies. One discussion that has been on here is a clicking coming from the rear brake area. I think it was determined that it was brake issues or CV Joint. I have had my brakes checked again and again so I think it is the rear CV Joint. It was posted about a month ago and it seemed like there were a number of us that had this problem.

I too have issues with mirror on visor. Other that that no prob's.

theres that old age debate of sludge in your motor. just change out your oil before it gets dark brown or every 3k. I've had my sunroof slightly rattle/creek when the body flexes but its only due to loose hex screws. Check your battery, my orig battery's terminals broke off after an tiny wiggle @ 90k miles.

yes, the rear cup holder is prone to brokage as well as the passenger/driver mirror if its used a lot.

the sunglass storage can seem to rattle (mine doesn't, but i've heard a few who reach close to 100K miles did). me and someone else here had a slight squeek in the drivers side seatbelt clip, a little lube will solve that! i think some members at tn (or was it some other board) had a slight ps squeek..but there was a tsb for that! Other than that, the car is flawless!

thanks for the reply's i'll make sure to be careful with the mirrors and cup holders. i usually do my oil change every 3-4k thanks for the heads up though. my car is at the dealer right now, something's up with the rear brakes, it makes a grinding sound when i'm pumping the brakes, also makes a sqeaking sound during acceleration, sounds like it's coming from the rear as well but it's getting looked after. i'll find out what it is within the hour as to what's going on with it. thanks once again. :)

Welcome! My Solara is one of the more well-made cars I've owned. No problems so far after 2 years and 18,000 miles.

There are no CV Joints in the rear, are there? I thought that Constant Velocity joints were only on the drive wheels...

Suprisingly, no one mention the strut cup problem...It affected '99's mostly, but it could happen to any of them if the pothole was big enough. Symptom is a rattling in the front while going over rough patches, esp. early morning. Solution is to go to the dealer and get them changed (or ignore it!)
