Hold down the brake with your left foot then use your right foot to push on the gas rev it to like 3k and you will feel it start to brake free and then you let off the brake and floor the gas at the same time. It takes some practice to get it down correct but its not that hard to master.

Don't forget the torque converter is right near your right foot.

od means going from first to second to thrid STOP!
It doesn't engage the fourth gear (in our 4sp auto a/t).
you'll waste a lot of gas and your engine will be revving up there in the highways! The only time i disengage od is in the morning before the car comes to optimal temp. Other than that i've pretty much accepted my limited a/t!

Here's what I use to do with my Auto Maxima. Power brake and gas it at the same time to 1.5 to 2.2 with gear one when you release the brake (right split second after that) floor it quickly and realease the gas to stall the car for a split second and floor it again and put into D gear and let the auto do its job..takes away the peeling out of the masive Tq and puts more pressure to the front to get a great grip. This works on the maxima auto. It took away all the peeling out kiling time and really jumps the car HARD. Dont have an auto solara to try. But it worked for me best in timing.

OD off (also depicted by "O/D" on the dash) limits your engine to three gears. If your racing i'd leave it OFF. Normal driving leave OD on (aka. nothing displayed on the dash)
