Top flapping while driving

Postby Guest » Fri Nov 08, 2002 10:16 am

Lately I've noticed a flapping noise while driving with the top up in moderatly windy weather. I have never noticed this before and I've had the car for almost 1 year. Any suggestions? :-?

i went up to 120 before and i didn't notice any shaking...i think itz cauze ur car isn't stable at the high speed and the car is able to handle the speed but wasn't designed to...that's my thought...haha

Could also be that your wheels aren't perfectly alligned. Plus the car definately wasn't meant to be driven that fast, as is true with most cars

get real!!!!

Postby Guest » Tue Nov 12, 2002 10:20 am

This question pertains to the convertible! This is why there is a need for both forums!!!! Now how about an appropriate answer with out all this nonsense about how fast you know you don't possibly have the nuts to go.

:P

i know absolutely NOTHING bout convertibles, but is it flapping when it's up or down? if it's down i would think it has something to do w/ the boot and if it's up i would think that there might be something wrong w/ the support (i don't know the technical name for em!) in the top.

i'd try calling your dealer and ask to speak to service and then get a serv tech on the phone. just ask them if you could ask them a quick question and just briefly run it by them. if it's a nice dealer they'll try to give ya some info..chances are though, unless that's a problem they're familiar w/, they'll ask you to bring it in.

Top Flapping

I hear it as well, when there are cross winds or a large truck runs by.. it's the fabric lifting off the top boughs.. Part of owning convertibles..

As for the dealer, make sure they send it to a top shop for any repairs..
