Check engine and Trac Control light

Check engine and Trac Control light

Postby jazzlara » Wed Nov 24, 2004 5:14 pm

Ok, about an hour ago I was crusing around and it started snowing and getting really humid. I was in a parking lot and did a nice and quick pull on the E brake to pull off a smooth turn in some snow...grin...(which by the way was very impressive) anyway, after i did that the traction control light came on. I restarted the car and the light was gone...no biggie right?

Well, after driving a few more miles the check engine light comes on (which it has before in humid weather) and then the trac light came on again.....

I arrived at work with those annoying orange lights laughing at me from behind the steering wheel. I have not had a chance to reset the computer via disconnectiong the battery yet to see if that will clear the problem which it has before...

Any ideas why this might have happened? the E brake is fine....im at a loss.
Thanks

PS, anyone else notice how BAD our cars handle in the snow? maybe its the wider tred per aftermarket rims,...not sure.

this might be related, but same thing happened to me (with the lights)
Big difference is that I used LED bulbs in the brake lights and when one was set to the wrong polarity, the trac, abs, CEL etc would go crazy on me. It was like the car was going insane. Went back to stock bulbs and everything was fine once more. Conclusion: might be an electrical problem. my guess is check your abs sensors in your brake equipment, they might have gone loose/damaged.
