I have clear corner lenses but with the same gaudy orange bulbs. First off, is it illegal (in Illinois) to change the color of the bulb, and if not, how do I do it? Can I just buy a colored bulb, or paint an existing one.......

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

8) Different states have different laws. I have blue ones, that look white at night under my clear corners. No problem so far in DE.

First off any clearcorners state "for off-road/show use only". As far as legality goes, your already illegal when commiting to clear corners. As far as bulbs, like others states, it depends on your state. I tried APC Titans (silver coated bulbs that light up amber) they look sweet when not lighter, but look tacky when lit IMO. I'd got with silverstars, I've heard that they have silver bulbs that light up amber (on other forms) for our corner ligths.

The Silverstar turn signals are a metallic amber look, but MUCH more amber (less yellow) when lit. I've got pictures on my site, I'd link to them if I could access 'em at work but I can't. I'll put them up this evening... they look great and are much more distinct, while still being 100% legal.

Absolutely right. The clear corner is whats illegal because of the lack of a front reflector. The bulb can actually be any bulb that shines amber and be legal.

Most people think coated bulbs are illegal, including inspection agents, but I'm pretty sure thier legal.

All the silver coated ones ive tried shine a dimmer orange color. The only coated bulb ive come upon with the same brightness as the OEM bulbs are the silverstars, which are blue coated, not silver coated. It still sticks out like a sore thumb, but like a blue sore thumb. Whether you like that or not is your call - I personally went back to silver coated bulbs. Thier dimmer, but still very visible, and I like the deeper orange better than bright amber. If you had a blue or white solara, the Silverstars would look pretty good. I gave mine to a friend with a white solara and its pretty sweet.

I got Silverstar corners and they are gorgeous. Made the car looks 10 times better with the clear corners. They got a blue hue to them, and are sort of multi-colored or iridescent. And they are as bright amber as the stock bulbs. Ive got 1 lousy side shot with the bulb in my WWW, it shows the blue transparent tint of the bulb. I personally like the blue color. I dont think it sticks out like a 'sore thumb', but more as an accent to the car, and I am against ricey stuff too, so you can know where Im coming from. With white, it looks good; on other cars I would test it out. Really sharp, check them out.

Just disconect them

Postby Octane SOlara » Thu Dec 09, 2004 4:54 pm

I use the light blue corner bulbs but they dont light up as bright white as my headlights and that is totally Gay. So... I disconected the parking lights...They are only used as turn signals.. If I didnt use blue bulbs I would Use the Crome colored ones and do the same thing (disconect the running parking lights)

Very nice looking solara, octane. Hottness, I like the kit. Where u at in fl? I was gonna disconnect the parking lights, but thought I would benefit from the added safety and light given during foggy conditions or dusk. I like the look of them off, myself, but when I see other cars like this, I dont think it looks too cool. Maybe if the corner having to be amber was tossed out the window, and a replacement white turning bulb was put in, and left on, thatd look good.
