Tein and tokico installers PLEASE HELP

Tein and tokico installers PLEASE HELP

Postby camcar se » Sun Dec 05, 2004 11:54 pm

I got my struts in today, tokico which are really really big I might say. They were labeled 99-02 TRD Package struts what that all about. Arte they affiliated with TRD. Still waitin on my teins.

Anyway the instruction sheet has a memo that I am confused about. IT STATES:
WHEN INSTALLING TOKICO STRUTS, PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU INSTALL THE O.E DUSTBOOT AND BUMPSTOP IF YOU VEHICLE HAS "THE TRD PACKAGE.

I dont have a TRD solara so what do I do there, can I still use my original dustboot and bumpstop or no. Or do I have to modify it. I know on my friends talon we had to cut the bumpstop in half. Please help I am stuck Thanks

You can use the stock as they are all the same. Just some rubber pieces. Check to see if the bushing is loose on the top if you are doing it yourself. If so get a new one as it causes noise on the older units (my gen 1 it was soo loose you could spin it by just twisting the mount in your hand. Also repack your bearings with new grease if you can. Takes a few moments and can save you in the future.

You know every time I see a post on here you are on here doing one thing, B!tchin,, like I know I have told you before, if the post bothers you or doesnt pertain, dont f'n read it. I mean seriously, knowing which applications to cut a bump stop for and which not to, does not show ones ability to install struts/springs. I have done this about 10 times to a variety of cars, just never a solara, but I have done a gen3 camry, which I didnt have to do, so all i wanted to know was do I need to cut the bumpstop or not, so quit flaming people for not knowing one STUPID A$$ thing about the solara, I proabably, along with many others know way wayyy more the a variety applications than you do the solara, so help people out like your suppose to do on a FORUM for QUESTIONS, yes I repeat QUESTIONS, or spend your time doing somthing else.

Thanks and have a great day, anyone who can answer the original post I would really appreciate it.

So I got the job done. Struts/springs and mounts. The deal went really well, no snags. The hardest part in my opinion was taking out the body panels and seats. Didnt realize so much was needed to remove the deck lid. The job took around 7 hours with some playin around of course. If anyone has any questions let me know. The outcome was great. Car looks good and the ride is suprisingly awesome.

Thanks to all you guys who helped, btw I found out from a friend with a solara that you got to cut an inch off the top of
the bump stop.

As for you Milt, Im sorry you have such a problem, its really sad actually. Good thing its not your forum. And as for knowing much about cars, Id say you lack a good bit if you really think that the cutting pf the bumpstop is the same on all applications. On the Tein springs for our car alone, there is about 30 other different places and amounts to cut of the bumpstop for other cars, some dont even need it. If you yourself ever has any questions, hopefully someone like you wont try to answer it. And seriously using all those bad words makes you sound really iggnorant. Enjoy your day, and let us enjoy ours.

Thanks Guys
