Lowering spring and strut install question

Lowering spring and strut install question

Postby camcar se » Fri Nov 19, 2004 9:57 pm

I am about to buy either tein/tokico or eibach/tokico. I have done a couple of spring and strut jobs here is my questions.
1. Is our car the solara gen 1 a simple take the old out and put the new in or is there mods needed. I did my friends talon and we had to shave the bump stop off a little bit and use different mount nuts. Do I need to do any of that.
2. Anything I need to know, tips tricks, or things I should and need to do. aka like somthin about an abs sensor.
3. Any suggestions or is there any how tos and or article about doing this to our cars.
Basically thats it, and just for pure wonders how come I cant get to the solaraguy website anymore, just the forum and the adress is zero somthin.com Just wondered. Thanks alot guys. Later

Or you can disconnect the abs sensor from the chassis in the wheelwell to give it some more play. That's what I did, helped a lot.

I got my struts in today, tokico which are really really big I might say. They were labeled 99-02 TRD Package struts what that all about. Arte they affiliated with TRD. Still waitin on my teins.

Anyway the instruction sheet has a memo that I am confused about. IT STATES:
WHEN INSTALLING TOKICO STRUTS, PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU INSTALL THE O.E DUSTBOOT AND BUMPSTOP IF YOU VEHICLE HAS "THE TRD PACKAGE.

I dont have a TRD solara so what do I do there, can I still use my original dustboot and bumpstop or no. Or do I have to modify it. I know on my friends talon we had to cut the bumpstop in half. Please help I am stuck Thanks

Whatever anybody does...Do not buy ground control Coilovers..They look good on my car because I can take them down so low..but they make an anoying and ,more importantly, an embarrassing popping sound.
