has anyone experienced this? etching on the outer layer of paint, and roughness even if you wash and polish/wax. is this covered under rust protection? my car only has 34k, but its a year 2000. any ideas?

just wondering, wasn't your car red before?

anywho, roughness can be a cause of overspray of a clear coat.

if that's the case, there's nothing that can be done (i think) unless professional help is done.

hari: if i were to guess, i'd say your previous owner had some bodywork done. and they roughness is most likely overspray (from a bad painting process..well bad masking process before painting). I'd say, clean her with dawn soap (for dishes), then clay bar her smooth, polish and wax accordingly. GL
